You’re right—Google Maps can be great for accuracy, but the costs can climb quickly for high-volume users. With Fleet Stack, you have complete control, but you still need a third-party reverse geocoding provider for converting coordinates to addresses. We do try to minimize those dependencies by using a local (offloaded) database for reverse geocoding. That means:
1.Local Geocoding Database
- Each lookup first checks our local cache.
- If the address is already in our local database, it’s served instantly—no external call or added cost.
2.External Providers When Necessary
- If the address isn’t found in the local cache, then we make a request to the external geocoding provider.
- You can choose Google Maps or other providers that suit your budget and accuracy requirements.
3.Fleet Stack Reverse Geocoding API
- We also offer our own reverse geocoding API if you want a more cost-effective or consolidated option.
We have strong connections in the market, so we often help our customers secure 30–40% discounts off the standard pricing of popular geocoding services. If you’re interested in that or need guidance on configuring the local database, let me know!
